Oprah, Lady Bits, and My Wonderful Doctor

Officially my longest vlog ever at 8:22. Can I call this a vlog manifesto? (Shrinking Mama...can I?) It would have been longer but my memory card filled up! So sorry about the abrupt ending!

  1. Agree totally about the aftercare! The place where I (and Angie and Sandy) had surgery has the most amazing staff...I have to say they've been invaluable! Good for you for putting an extremely charismatic face to the surgery!

  6. Great vlog, sweetheart. I am so proud of you for getting up there and telling your amazing story. Aftercare at our clinic, like Gilly mentioned, is amazing, and it definitely is a huge factor. Love you... HI DR. FRIEDMAN!

  7. I love when you vlog! I can imagine it would be a bit akward to have your doctor read all the things you write but for fellow bander I think it would be amazingly informative and motivating. I am not even banded but find your posotivity so inspiring!

  9. In regards to the whole... You don't freak out anymore. I'm jealous. I really am. I thought I'd feel self-assured at some point, and maybe I will... But I certainly don't yet. We'll see what it takes for me to get there, I'm glad I have a great role model like you to look to for guidance.

    xx

BTW - my 3 year old thought you were on skype and kept yelling hello to you - lol!

  11. This was so awesome! I got a little chocked up when you started getting chocked up (you did...just for a sec there). My husband even sat here and watched the entire thing too, he thinks you are hilarious and such a good inspiration for me :)

I too totally agree about the importance of aftercare. I have a really great surgeon and his staff at the office is wonderful! I've been to my doctor 10 times since surgery (about once a month). I know a few people that have the band. They basically got it put in and then never did anything with it afterwards...guess what? Yep, still obese. One gal lost like 20 pounds at first and then gained it all back plus another 50! She never saw her DR after surgery! Crazy.

Anyways...you look gorgeous. Oh! I wanted to also say that my husband wanted to watch some of your other vlogs and so we watched the one where you did your happy dance in the yard just like 1-2 weeks ago and Jeff made the comment that you look like you've lost a decent amount of weight even since that last vlog. You can really tell in your face and collar bone area :)

    Goodnight snookums!

  12. nah...that was more like a fillabuster. the republicans can call you in on the next major vote! lol.

ok, i would be freaked out if my surgeon read my blog. they know i blog, but i have never said where.

and one more thing...your neck is freakishly skinny. i can't wait for mine to do the same thing!

  13. You need an award Amy!! You are such an inspiration to so many!
You should be a Lap-Band spokesman. Your awesome!
    Keep up the good work!

Oh, and my mom used to tell me that ALL the time!!

  14. Amy, I really enjoyed your vlog. Don't worry about your surgeon reading your blog. I'd be willing to bet he read it and was thrilled to see what a tremendous impact his skills are making in the world. Don't forget, he sacrificed a valuable portion of his youth to study and put himself in a position to help others. This is what makes all those endless nights worth it. I guarantee it.

  15. This vlog was just so funny. You've really hit that point in your weight loss where you just look like a different person now! The same but just skinny! You should totally update your profile pic to reflect that! You're all kinds of skinnyness and collar bones in this video!

  17. Great Vlog! So our mission should we choose to accept it for 2010 is to get you on Oprah. I'll make some calls.

  18. Oh damn.. Sparkler stole my line!

Amy, what a great vlog. Seriously, I was laughing my head off at the doc part, got choked up when you did talking about him and his staff and just watched your animated face talking about life in general. I wonder if Oprah takes calls from pushy Australians? I must have her on speed-dial somewhere!

  21. You are FABULOUS!!!! I loved this Vlog!!! So proud of you!
Ok, so I'm totally onboard the "Get Amy on Oprah" bandwagon.. When I lived in Chicago, one of my buddies lived above two of the producers so we would occasionally get to go to the show.. I'm going to check to see if she still keeps in touch and see if we can get a hook up somehow again!! :)

  22. You are fantabulous!!! Your blog is so freaking awesome. What makes it the most awesome is that you share from the heart. Makes it so easy to relate. Keep up the good work honey.

  26. You're so funny, Amy. I need to work up the courage to vlog. I think it's neat cuz it's like you're right there in the room with the person. Too cool! I am glad it all went well and you made such a shining example and inspiration to everyone listening.

  28. awesome vlog. you're too cute! i also agree about the aftercare. the bariatric center that i go to (missouri bariatrics in columbia, missouri, if anyone is interested) also has an amazing aftercare program. they do follow ups for 18 months after surgery. the center where i live (saint joseph, missouri) is also good too. i had to have an emergency unfill there once.
aftercare is such a huge part of succeeding at this. and it's nice to have someone on your side that you can ask questions to, and know they're there for you from a medical stand point as well.

  29. I love this! I always get so excited when I see you've done a new vlog. Your positivity is so inspiring.

  30. I am starting to realize more and more exactly how important it is to have awesome aftercare. I have not been happy with my office- at all- since my surgery. Heck, I didn't like them before! But, for some reason, I felt I had no choice?

There is another office in my area, but someone I know works there and I am SO afraid she will blab. And the people she would blab to are the EXACT population I am terrified to have know for so many reasons.

Amy- I can say this; there are so many bloggers out in Lap-band Universe that have made a huge difference in my life and you have the biggest influence on me...no pressure!...but I mean it. Thanks for always being awesome, honest and AMY- saggy bits and all! ;)

Am I allowed to say I love you?
