the BIG weekend and a SMALL dream

This is it kiddies. Memorial Weekend here in the United States is just 3.5 days away. And if you remember, this is THE weekend that your little ol' Amy is going to reclaim her water skiing throne. I am excited. I am ready. I am scurrrred!

I really just want to skip the two ski's all together and go straight to the slalom. But what if I can't get up (you have to drag a long time on one) and fatigue myself and then can't get up on two!? ARGH! Decisions decisions.

We are heading up to my parents on Friday.

My weight is holding steady about 2 pounds up from my lowest. And I am okay with that. I am actually very grateful that it's not more.

Do you know what we actually brought into the house this weekend? TWINKIES! Lard filled moist cake logs basically. I used to be such a sucker for the Twinks. Now, the only thing they really taste like are fat. It's the weirdest thing.

I had a wonderful Sunday. I went out of town with a friend to meet her family. I live in Florida, but this part of the panhandle is only a stones throw from Alabama, so one day you can be on a white sandy beach, and the next in the backwoods of the country. And I love the backwoods. It reminded me of home. Open spaces, green, cows, (not green cows, but green grass and cows), animals, simple and gentle people. We spent the entire day four wheeling (which by the way is a workout when you are riding on the back of one of those suckers...my biceps are so sore from hanging on), went swimming in a creek, and just hanging out with her family. It was perfect.

And it was good for my soul.

  3. I am also a former water ski buff. I would just start out on one. I have NO doubts you can do it. Hint: wear your weight lifting gloves if you don't have water ski gloves. The hardest part, as you know, is holding your grip. IF (and I doubt it) you can't get up on one, then two will feel really easy. I remember a few years ago after losing about 75 lbs, I went water skiing. My biggest fear was that the boat wouldn't be strong enough to pull me up. Make sure the driver is an experienced one used to pulling skiers. Don't want it too slow or too quickly of a pull up. Make sure and get video!

Oh, I thought maybe you had decided not to do a blog anymore when I checked it this morning and it said "This blog has been removed". My heart dropped a little. So glad it wasn't real. : )

Have a great holiday weekend. uh, this time take some miralax or MOM with you. ; )

So glad you are back and your soul is feeling good. Twinkies are the Devil. I love/hate those things. They are as you described "Lard filled moist cake logs."

  17. Glad I found your blog! I'm going to be scheduling my band surgery for either July or August. I would do it tomorrow if I could...I've been waiting over 14 months! Blogs like this are really inspiring and helpful. I've had to wait so long to do this (insurance) that I forgot how excited I was! You look spectacular. Thank you for sharing all this with the world!

  25. Hi Amy, Hi guys.

I initially intended this comment to be for your post about "things you wish someone had told you before you got banded" but i realized it was so far back that no one would see it. so i hope you don't mind i'm leaving it here...

I am still in the research phase. Just starting actually. And I could use all the help and info I can get. I want to read everyone's blog but its soo much. I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the info. So if anyone has any advice, tips, words or wisdom for me can you please email me at myvoiceover@gmail.com? i would truly truly appreciate it.

ps. i'm 5'0 and 265lbs. i was 282lbs and was able to get down to the 260s but i'm stalled here. Never been able to lose more than 20-30lbs on my own. Also I have PCOS which i just found out at last year. i'm 30 and i want to have a baby. Thats my back story. so if any one can relate please please email me. i'd so appreciate it.

    thanks!
    melissa

ps. amy i love your blog
