Sizing Up The Duds

So over lunch I went to the mall. I pulled my courage up by the bootstraps and went to Old Navy to try on jeans.

Please remember my current dilemma. I have Old Navy jeans from 2002, size 20, that won't even button. But Liz went in the other day and tried some on, and they fit...so she her success encouraged me to go and find some too!

They dont carry 20 jeans in short, but I was willing to get them tailored if need be. I grabbed a couple of different styles, one pair of khakis, and a few shirt in XXL. Off to the dressing room, which is like a war zone bc this is the last weekend before school starts, and there were teens, and tweens everywhere showing their clothes to their moms. Then the moms would tsk tsk, and they would argue, and the world started to spin, and I had a flashback moment to shopping with my mom. Good times.

So, back to reality. I tried on the 20's, pulled them up, silent prayer that they would at least button. They were all toooo big! hahahaa! Especially in the waist. The XXL tops were too big also. So, out I go again and grab some 18's. Fit great in the waist, little snug in the calves. Oh well, didnt care! The 20's were too big and that is all that mattered!

I skipped to Victoria Secrets and grabbed a pair of XL panties. Tried them on in the dressing room. They fit!

And so it is my friends, so it is!

Also, I was staring at my ticker today. My mind doesnt really register the number 235. When I go to write my weight down somewhere, or when I say it aloud, I say 253. It is amazing to me that I am now closer to 200 than 300.

  5. Amy - Question for you...and yes I'm drinking my water, even more since I read your article. When you ate chili during mushies did you blend it or just eat it as is?

  6. Jenny - I just ate it as is. But I'm a rebel.

Ames - Do the light blue jeans fit yet? Those are an 18 too! I wanna see those on your hot ass.

  7. That is so awesome -- what a great feeling!! Honestly, you look so curvy and petite in your photos that I am not at all surprised to hear this. Actually, in your photos, you look more like a 12 than an 18!

Jenny -- I blended my chili during the mushies phase. . I would add some chicken broth to it, sprinkle in some shredded cheddar, and put in some nonfat Greek yogurt too (it tastes so much like sour cream. .yum yum)!

  8. oh my goodness, I'm so stoked for you! I am competetive though and since we similar in size and shape I almost feel that I must catch up. I'm so happy for you that you're in the 18's. That's a big goal of mine b/c I have probably 15 pair of designer jeans in a size 18 in my garage. Oh and I k new you wouldn't fit into an XXL top. Can you believe this? Can you believe how fun it is to talk about shrinking sizes? It's so much MORE fun than I imagined. I'm as excited for you as if it was me!!!!

  9. I'm glad you got up the courage to go in and try on and I'm even more glad that you fit in an even smaller size than you thought!!! Yeah Amy!! I'd throw out those old 20's, not good for the ego and back in 2002 jeans fit differently. Good for you!!

    92 lbs, fan-freaking-tastic!!!!

ON jeans in size 18 are tight on my "athletic" calves, too. So weird.

  16. Amy, I am not a bander but somehow I found ur blog on a day that i really needed a good giggle and have been following ever since...I am so proud of u and i know that going down a jean size is an undescribable feeling. I too am overweight, about 60lbs worth. I've tried many fads over the years. I am bit older than u, 41 to be exact. I don't feel 41. But, you have given me inspiration. I visited my doctor yesterday and talked with him about a healthy weight loss plan. We'll see what happens. I know ur looking forward to ur upcoming cruise..Good Luck

  17. Sherry! Well welcome non bandster. We will have to hunt you down and make you eat mushies for a week, but dont worry...it is all part of joining the club. hahaha...joking (maybe)

good thing about my blog is that I ramble about everything, not just being banded...and most of us can relate to losing weight! I hope you doc has a plan for you. Sometimes I wonder if the band is placebo, but I know it helps for real...however...I think that we all need something to kick our butt in gear...whatever you need! Welcome and thanks for your kind words!
