Day 5 of Atkins Science Experiment

I just wanted to check in before the weekend my beautiful butterflies!  Today began day 5 of the introductory phase of Mr. Atkins.  Yesterday was the hardest for me by far.  I am jonesing for a diet sunkist (and even though it says you can try a little caffeine to see if it makes you crave sweets, etc), I am holding out as long as I can.  Yesterday, all I could think of was candy, ice cream, and candy, and ice cream, and cookies.

Today has been a wee teensy bit better.

But I believe I have the start of the "keto breath".  Last night Heather said she could smell it.  I asked her what it smelled like exactly...her answer?

Sour Milk

Oh fabulous.  And you can't have gum because even if you get sugar free...guess what?  IT HAS CARBS.

CARBS ARE EVERYWHERE.

Yesterday morning I was standing in my kitchen and I actually couldnt bring myself to nuke some bacon.  The thought made me a little sick.  I rallied though for lunch and had a yummy bacon cheeseburger, and for dinner...bacon, sausage, eggs.

The weirdest thing though is not counting calories. It seems so wrong!

Before I noticed it wasnt really approved for Phase 1 of Atkins (I think bc it tastes too damn good), I discovered this little joy.

It is the Atkins Endulge Carmel Nut Chew Bar.  And I swear, it tastes like a Milky Way.  Its really good, and for 130 calories, 2 net carbs, and 5 grams of protein...I will probably keep eating them when I am done.

We have added a little yoga to our workout at home.  Heather bought Bob Harpers Warrior Yoga.  It's okay.  It lasts one hour.  I like my yoga a little more "zen" if you will.  This is a little more pumped up, pilate-esqe...and his damn background music is like the instrumental version of Metallica.

So there you have it.  That's a wrap for the week!  I would blow you a kiss...but my breath probably stinks.

  5. I can not do Atkins- I am mean with no carbs. I have The Biggest Loser Yoga with Bob and I like it - it may be slightly more Zen than that one. Have a good weekend! XOXO

  6. Wanted to second what a previous poster said about sugar alcohols. My hubby found out the hard way when he OD'd on sugar free jellybeans. He lived on the toilet for 2 days. TMI...I know.

  7. I am so proud of you... The first phase of Atkins is the worst... It gets much better. I love alot of the Atkins bars. The Daybreak bar makes a great breakfast with my Atkins Advantage Mocha Latte Protein shakes. They have a good amount of fiber and are the only protein bars I will do. Also, Those Endulge ones have one that tastes just like a payday... Yum!

  9. LOL I agree with Tessie and Manda on the Atkins bars. Major gas issues! I love them but had to give them up totally, I was just disgusting myself. Sugar alcohols are evil! The breath problem can't compare!

Mmmmmmmm.......... keto breath. My husband used to call me "Miss Ketose"

But just think........ the stinkier the breath, the more the fat burn :)

  15. I have JUST the fix for you m'darlin (got your message about those bars... they are stinky stinkers!)

A small recipe "hjack" of your comments section is merited:

DEEP DISH PIZZA QUICHE - INDUCTION FRIENDLY:

    DEEP DISH PIZZA QUICHE

    4 oz softened cream cheese
    4 eggs
    1/3 cup heavy cream
    1/4 cup parmesan cheese (grated)
    1 tbs chives
1/2 tsp Italian or pizza seasoning
2 cups shredded cheese (I use mozzarella/cheddar mix)
1/2 tsp wet garlic or 1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/2 cup lowest carb tomato or pizza sauce
    1 cup mozzarella cheese
Toppings to taste (I use pepperoni, sausage, onion, green pepper, mushrooms, whatever!)

    Preheat oven to 375.
Beat together cream cheese and eggs till smooth (I use a blender).
Add cream, parmesean cheese and spices.
Spray 13x9 glass baking dish with PAM.
Put 2 cups of shredded cheese in dish and pour egg mixture over.
Bake at 375 for 30-35 minutes.
    Remove from oven.
Spread with sauce and then add your toppings.
    Cover with mozzarella cheese.
Bake till browning and bubbly (or however you like your 'za!)
Let stand for 5 minutes or so.

Don't ask about fat/calories (but you know that already!)

THIS little morsel will fix your hungries, and fast! It definitely fills you up, and KEEPS you filled!

    xo
