Brain Matter

  • I like it when I have a million ideas in my brain I want to blog about, and when I start to type...I can't remember one damn thing I wanted to say!

  • Do you believe you control your life? I took a survey today, and one of the questions asked, "do you believe you have control over your life". Of course I do! And then it occurred to me that some people may not. And I wanted to say..."well, if not YOU...then WHO?" And while I need to remind myself of this when I am pouting or moody, I usually believe that while we can't control LIFE, we can control our response to what it throws at us, dumps on us, hits us in the face with.

  • Have you picked out your swimsuit for the summer yet? I tend to forget that it's cold still in some of the places you guys live. Here in Pensacola...it's time to start swimsuit shopping. No matter what size you are I want you to find a damn suit, put that sucker on, and walk around like it doesn't matter what other people are thinking. Because you know what? IT DOESN'T. If you feel good in it, then rock it.

  • Have you ever tried a thong? If not...why not? There are all types out there....and one my friends...is made for you! G-string or t-back, give one a spin. Eliminate the visible pantie lines. It will be one of our new missions.

  • This weekend is Mardi Gras. We didnt really have mardi gras in Kansas. But my parents and my brother are coming in town (in just a few hours) and shacking up at our house. I plan on taking lots of pictures.

  • I am so thankful for my second grade teacher, Ms. George. She loved reading, and she read to us a lot. She introduced me to Mr. Shel Silverstein. I pulled out Where The Sidewalk Ends the other day and read a little. One of the reasons I would ever want to have a child is so I could read to them. Perhaps I will just borrow children for story time. In my second grade classroom, Ms. George had an old clawfoot bathtub that was filled with pillows and if you earned it, you could crawl in and read for awhile. I want an old clawfoot bathtub filled with pillows in my office damn it! I would do all my work in it....and then take a nap.

  • OH YEAH! Have I told you that I LIKE BROCCOLI now? Like..as in...I crave it? I was just looking out the window and saw a tree and thought..."I want to it that tree. It looks like broccoli!" huh...who would have thought.

  • Do you guys remember (probably not) how during my two weeks liquid preop, I would dream about food? I would dream about going to Long John Silvers and eating ribs. I know its a fish place...but it was my dream after all! Anyways, now that I am smack in the middle of this Biggest Loser competition, crazy dreams have returned. They all revolve around food or working out.

  • And finally, my wonderful doctors office sent me my official before picture. And here it is. Isnt she a beaut?

  1. I do feel in control of my life. Of course circumstances have an effect, but I choose how to react. Sometimes my choosing sucks. I LOVE broccoli, but not so much the gas. Hard to believe it's you in that picture, but you still have that sex appeal. Hope you have a great weekend.

  2. Thank you so much for your advice yesterday, made me think of a couple of things...Oh Em Gee and I mean that in a great way, you have transformed so much I can not even see you in that picture!

Amazing results, I only hope I can do the same...once I figure out what it is that I am doing...lol

  3. There are many things in life we can control and many things we cannot.

    Ms. George sounds AMAZING!

  4. That is a good question, if not then WHO?

I am with Sandi, it is QUITE a transformation! I would love to see it next to pictures of you now so we can see the comparison :)

    You are amazing Amy!

  5. I miss broccoli, it just doesn't work with my band. It ALWAYS gets stuck. Sigh.

Look at that picture! You have come so far, congrats!

Oh and I totally want a pillow filled bathtub now. I have a claw foot tub in my apartment but somehow I think all the pillows would get wet when I shower in the morning. Hehe.

  7. Food has controlled my life in the past. Not always, just at times. That's when I was depressed. It was bad. Now I control it!

P.S. Who IS that girl? Is she your cousin? She looks like you a tint bit....maybe around the eyes.

  8. If you only knew how much of an inspiration you are to me. Thanks for your bullets and your picture. You look amazing!

  9. Rock on my friend... amazing transformation! Oh - and you can have Lucia for a while if you'd like... she LOVES to read! And the idea of a clawfoot tub filled with pillows sounds just heavenly!!! You've come an amazingly long way... and inspire me every day (although I'm not ready for the thong yet).

  10. You are like the damn Dali Lama... And even though you don't look like that photo anymore... You still look like a ray of sunshine... In my pre-op photo, I look like I'm going to Death row.... I love that you rocked yours!

  12. Wow! You have GOT to reinact that before pic, a la Joey. What a difference a band makes! And, I love it that you worked your "before" pose. :)

I definitely feel in control of my life. More so now than ever, now that I have food issues and my weight in check.

OK, I'm slightly obsessed right now with what bikini I'm going to wear this summer. I keep looking on-line.. despite that I know I have to get one that I actually try on...

And, I LOVE Shel Silverstein. The Giving Tree makes me cry every time I read it. What a great book.

  13. Love the pic Amy...it is you...just a lot bigger! i love that about you actually. I am actively looking for bathing suits as we are going on a cruise to Hawaii next month!

  14. You must trademark that pose. It's the same one you use in all the pics that we all try to mimic. We should have a litte copyright sign next to any pics with that pose and mention you. Or maybe pay you a small sum cause you started it. I love broccoli too. Try cream of broccoli soup (although you don't use cream, just some skim milk). No Thongs. Unless they're on my feet!

  15. You know - I am constantly amazed that I like broccoli. I mean it's healthy - how the hell do I like it? Love you!

  16. One thing is for sure from that picture, you certainly have not lost your sassiness along with the weight!

  17. You're so cute, even your before pic has sexy attitude!

  18. But if I wore a thong, what would hold my ass in?

  19. I can-not believe that is you!! Incredible!! Looking back...did you ever think the you that the butterfly you are today would evolved from where you were then? I can't even see myself as being thin because I don't ever remember being that way.

And I don't think I thanked you for your FB message a couple weeks ago. Like DizneDiva said...you are the Dali Lama. My scales are starting to move...slowly...I'm crossing my fingers for something good tomorrow morning on official weigh-in day. Why aren't you a trainer too?? You and Heather should be the new BL trainers....you would rock!! I want to go to Florida just so I can work out with you two :)

Thongs...really? REALLY? My sister swears by them. I think A)they don't make them in super size and B)it would be very embarrassing at the emergency room trying to explain how I 'lost' my thong when I bent over.

    XOXO

  20. Darl,
You couldn't get me in a thong if you tried. I have NO ASS!!!!! lol... and btw that crack you made about me being 'jacked off' just made me realise to choose my words more carefully lol. I should have realised there was more than one connotation in that sentence. I was laughing out loud at your comment.

Hard to believe thats the same girl standing by that door. You were just busting to get that skinny girl out and now you have. I am so so proud that you who you are and that you've made such a go with your lapband. You rock, Ames. You truly do. xx

  21. great post and you look so different!

  22. I am probably the only fat girl without an ass, so a thong would look hilarious on me, but perhaps when I loose some weight my flat butt will become a butt butt.
I love your pre-op pic! You are an inspiration!

  23. You have done AWESOME!

The thong thing does not work for me either...my crack is too short! You know the old ladies that put a knot in thier purse strap because its too long? I would have to do the same with a thong.
