Cereal Shame

I should tell you something.

I used to eat me some toast. OH MAN. I could come home and eat 6-8 slices. Never just with butter...usually with cinnamon sugar or jelly...but the cinnamon sugar was my favorite.

It has been a rare day since being banded that I could eat or enjoy a piece of toast. I usually don't even try. I also miss cereal. How many of us would eat cereal regardless of the time of day? Raise your hand.

That's what I thought.

And now, since being banded and having good restriction, I can't really eat much cereal with milk. It just doesn't happen.

But the other day...man oh man...I was craving some cereal.

So I bought something.

Something I shouldn't have. Something I had never had before.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. (pictured above)
And let me tell you...it was a box of Heaven. In fact, if angels poop...it probably tasted just as sweet. So the first couple of days I measured out a serving and brought it to work in a little baggie. I would drink it with some organic milk....
Today friends...I just brought the whole damn bag. And I ate them for breakfast...
LIKE A MANIAC.
If you would have walked into my office, you would have found that precious cinnamon sugar on my fingers, cheeks, and at one point...stuck in my eyebrows.
Insanity.
I was licking my fingers and sticking them in the far corners of the bag...just trying to get every last crystal of sugary goodness.
I am not sure if it triggered some repressed toast memories, but I sure ate them up.
SOOOO, needless to say that I wont be purchasing them again.
Shame though...because they are on sale BOGO at Publix this week...
hmm...maybe just one more time?

  1. Lord help!! I LOVES ME SOME CINNAMON TOAST CRUNCH!!!!!!!!!

Yes they are the best thing since sliced bread. The only cereal better in my opinion is Peanut Butter Captain Crunch. You know they are good if I eat them and I'm ALLERGIC to peanuts.

Oh now you just set off my craving for some of that cereal. And yes I can eat that anytime of the day and have.

  3. OMG! My two most favorite cereals in the world are Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Peanut Butter Captain Crunch!!

    And so does my kids.

So...it's generally in the house. But I don't eat it very often because I don't like milk. And cereal isn't very good without milk. But once in a while I just HAVE to have some cereal, on a Saturday morning, while watching cartoons. Good times!!

  6. I loooove cereal, and have been wondering if I'd be able to eat it with the band (was kinda hoping not, since I definitely have no control when it comes to portioning there). Cinnamon Toast Crunch is one of my faves :)

  7. My crack, I mean cereal, of choice is Lucky Charms. And yes, I can still eat it post-band. I won't tell you how I know that!

  11. 50 of my 75 or so extra pounds are the direct result of too many run-ins with cereal. And guess what? The other night, my family was having steak...I did not feel like fighting with a piece of meat, so I checked to see what kids' cereal was lying around. Freaking LUCKY CHARMS! I had Lucky Charms for dinner! No more cereal for me....

  12. Step away from the cereal isle!! ha ha

You talking about toast and food you just yearn to eat made me think about grilled cheese, what I would do to chow down on a gooey, cheesy buttery grilled cheese; and a little tomato soup with it - heaven!

  14. I usually was eating cereal regularly until this last fill made me too tight. Kashi Go Lean with Carb Master yogurt from Ralphs. 220 calories & 25 grams of protein from a serving of each. And Kashi makes a great Heart to Heart cereal which comes honey toasted or cinnamon flavored. Less protein but really close to the texture of honey nut Cheerios (I've only had the honey kind). The man says it sounds like I'm eating cat food when I have it, since I really like it plain and dry.

  15. Oh there are so many things that pose difficulty-even after our choices narrow. I had a carrot cake crisis yesterday. The cin. toast crunch is making my mouth water...I do find that as long as I actually put the milk on it slows me down. When I dive in dry..oh that is a problem. I can eat so much of it. Good luck with your resistance.

  19. Wow, I love cereal too!! Golden Grahams are my drug of choice! I would rather cereal than many other sweet options!

Step away from the cereal bowl!

  20. Lucky Charms was my weapon of choice.

  21. CTC, Golden Grahams, & Reese's Puff were like crack to me. A nice big bowl with a piece of toast slathered with butter = sinfully delicious

  22. Seriously, that stuff is one of the best damn cereals EVER. And now I have a huge craving for a bowl. Crap.

  23. Cereal is one of my biggest weaknesses! OMG. My all-time favorite is Reeses Pnut Butter Puffs... why do I love it so??? Luckily, with no kids in the house, all I have to worry about is what the husband wants. And he's more of a bacon/eggs kinda guy, so when he does want cereal, I buy him something like raisin bran so that it's not as fun and tempting :)

  24. mmmmmmm....cinnimon toast crunch is evil.
    now I want some damnit!

  25. Sometimes I eat Jarrett's Froot Loops right out of the box, no milk. It goes down easy. I figure a couple of fistfuls eaten in the middle of the night, nude, hunched by the refrigerator's meager light really doesn't count calorie wise. Surely the lapband gods understand that sometimes a girl has to eat some cereal.

  26. If you think Cinnamon toast Crunch cereal is bad, then please Nev-UH Ev-UH try Ben & Jerry's Cinnabon icecream. I was one step short of taking methadone to wean myself off of that stuff. If I could have turned that icecream into a power and snorted it, I really think I would have.
