THANKSgiving Comes Early

Today I am thankful for being this weight.

Today I am thankful for being smaller, healthier, and happier than ever before.

I am thankful for being able to shop in more stores every day. And if I still don't fit into their clothes, I am thankful that I know I will one day very soon.

Now, with all that said...I made my band very cranky yesterday. We went to lunch at Red Robin...we eat there all the time! It was late though (about 2pm) and I hadn't eaten all day. I ate one french fry and maybe 2 bites of chicken tortilla soup. And that was the beginning of a very bad food day.

I was stuck. I went to the bathroom. Two stalls and a line! So I finally get in and stand there in the stall for about 10 minutes. I don't want to throw up bc it will be loud...and there is still a line. I am sweating. My face is on fire. Finally I come out, still stuck. I had to come out though bc the chicks in line were getting cranky with me! So I just got BACK in line and told them I didnt feel to good and had to hang out for awhile. Finally, I went into the handicap stall and threw up some slime. I emerge from the bathroom after almost 15 minutes. Tracey was getting ready to send the waitress in after me. I was mortified. It was the only time that I have felt like crying after getting stuck. I was embarrassed. So Tracey finished my soup and we left. In the car I pulled out my trusty stash of plastic bags and finally threw up.

So when I got home, I decided I would have a frozen waffle. Which doesn't go down on a good day! I ate it. And it was good. But it came up right after the last bite.

SO, I didnt eat any dinner and by 6 that night I was still operating on an empty tummy. I convinced Tracey to take me for ice cream. Guess what...the ice cream came up! I knew Tina was UBER irritated...so I gave up.

This morning...a few bites of bacon. Almost threw up on the dishes in the sink.

So I am just taking it easy now :)

But I am still Thankful!!!

And we went to the beach today! It was still a little chilly though, so we didnt last much longer than an hour!

  1. Brrr...OK, actually I'm jealous as it's snowing here. Maybe that cooled Tina off so you can eat tonight! Don't feel bad...I tried to PB in a 'waiting room only' bathroom while sitting down through my legs...it could have been worse LOL.

  2. I had good food days and bad food days, too. I don't have a clue what caused them but they certainly happened. Steer clear of anything bread-related; that nay help. You look like you're doing great with the lapband, however! Good for you!

  3. My band does that to! And I had the same issues yesterday. I couldn't eat anything for some reason. Then today I wake up and my salad and cup of soup went down just fine. Thanks for writing your blog about being thankful. I've been frustrated at where I'm at also, but I should be happy at how far I've come! You're a great role model miss Amy ;)

  4. I have good and bad band days too, its so annoying! Some days I can get an XL roast beef sandwich, and others I can't get down soup or ice cream. Its the strangest thing. I felt your pain as wrote about the line in the bathroom. Last week I had to PB at work, and when I got down on all 4's to spit up, not only did I made huge puking noises, and I tooted at the same time too! I was mortified, I didn't come out of the stall until everyone was gone! Hang in there! xxoo

  7. Oh baby I'm hearin ya! But I have no shame - I dont care how long it takes or how much noise I make that band has GOT to get unstuck!!! And yes it can be sooooo random! I swear tho - have a Zantac and Tina will be right as rain in no time and you will feel the second it wears off! Anyhow it will give your tummy a nice little break and you'll be able to get some food in. How come we're not size 8???? We eat so little!!! You are lookin great keep up the gratitude girlie!

I hope you and Tina make up soon!!
I am so NOT looking forward to my first PB/stuck experience! So I have to ask..what kind of bags do you carry with you? Like ziploc sandwich bags or what? :-)

  10. I'm not banded yet, but the PBing is the part that scares me the most. I teach school and worry that I might start foaming at the mouth and scare the kids. :) You look awesome! I read yours and Catherine's blogs first (start to finish) and was very inspired! I just started my own blog and gave Kudos to both you and Catherine for all of your sharing.

I have not had a public PB incident yet, not looking forward to that. And the most I have thrown up is slime...Never the whole thing (yet). So sorry, hope your band is chillin now and you feel better!

  12. Poor baby. That sounds miserable! Seriously. I hate days like these - and yet tomorrow, knowing these bands of ours, you will be able to eat no worries.
That pic of you? You look freezing. I'm jealous lol. Wish it was cold here - I'm SO OVER the heat. Blahh

  13. I'm thankful for everything that I've learned from reading through your journey. As much as it's taught you, it's taught so many other people as well. :)

  14. OMG....that sounds awful ...I found a new trick to cover the sound of PBing...hold you hand on the flush and as it comes up...press the button. Worked for me and believe me I spent a lot of time in toilets this weekend

  15. My band does that, it's name is normally George, but when it's being a turd I call it Sybil. *lol* There are days I get up and for some reason food just wont' go down, then there are days where I can eat so much!

We haven't made it to the beach just yet - and we moved here over a year ago. *lol* Hoping we'll make it out there soon.

  16. That sucks -- I've had to PB in a few public bathrooms, and it's never fun. I've been lucky though with the timing, so it's never been that bad. That situation sounded awful.

Next time, if you walk in and the bathroom situation isn't good, can you just go out to the car and PB there? Could be a decent backup plan.

  20. Hi Amy - FYI, I PBd on French Fries too. I had about 1/2 of a container of regular McD's fries, and went in to have my nails done. About 5 minutes in, I started to feel nauseated - and pretty much ran to the bathroom and vomited in the sink - 3 times. Then I had to run the water forever to get it down. YUCK! I'm met other bandsters that can't do fries anymore either - so for me - just a couple will have to do. ;(

  21. Ooh, check out you in that bikini!! You are always so positive...keep with it. I have crappy days like that too. My doc says I get stuck easier when I am dehydrated...keep at that water! ☺
