The Ass That Shakes Rules the World

Last night Bandita agreed to go to Zumba with me! I have done some booty shaking to Zumba once before, months ago. BUT, since Angie issue the challenge to do more...I thought...let's Zumba again!

Turns out it was the same fantastic instructor I had when I took it at the Y. This time it was in an old Knight of Columbus lodge that smelled like old man and dirty feet...but it didn't matter. It rocked. Half way through we DID think we were going to die. I looked over my shoulder at one point and saw the Grim Reaper standing in the corner with his sicle, beckoning to come to him...wanting to take me to Heaven...or Hell...or out to dinner. But I said "NO DEATH MAN"! To hell with my burning throat and side pain...I will not die today".

And so Bandita and I survived! Half way through the workout the instructor asked for a volunteer. SO, yes...I raised my hand. It was time for some belly dancing moves and I got to wear the jingly skirt! She told me I could stand at the front of the room or get on stage with her...SO, YES...I got on stage. It was the most fun!

Tomorrow is my fill and I am at 118 pounds lost. My not-so-secret-goal was to be at 120 down when I saw Dr. Friedman...but if I don't make it, I will still make my goal of 120 down by NEXT Wednesday...which is my one year!

I have to say I am pretty proud of myself (patting my own back right now). My typical routine for the last 6 months or so was to make positive food choices for 2 weeks, lose 6-8 pounds, then make poopy food choices for 2 weeks, gain 4-5 pounds. Well, I have made it 3 weeks straight being a good girl, and plan on making it 4 weeks! It is a good feeling.

I even made soup this weekend, bought cute little containers, and froze individual portions so I have a quick take to work when I need it. I am supposed to be on liquids for few days with this fill anyways. I made my pumpkin soup and my tomato soup. If you want the recipes, use the search feature on the right hand side of my screen and you should be able to find them in my blog!

I am currently sitting at 209.5. 209 is my lowest recorded adult weight, I believe from the year 2000. I had lost about 60 pounds to get down to that weight. I think it last for a week. I am excited to venture into unknown territory. I am optimistic. Hopeful. Grateful!

I don't usually do an official WELCOME to new followers and new peeps, but I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for reading, for sending me your positive vibes, and wonderful emails. I know that some of you hide in the shadows of blogland, and I just wanted to say I love you too! If any of you have questions or thoughts, and don't want post on here, you can always send me an email.

  1. As a former dancer, I MUST try Zumba. My stinkin gym even offers a class! I'm doing Angie's challenge this week too so I think I'm going to check it out Thursday night!

    I was checking out your ticker before you even mentioned your 120 pounds and I was thinking about that too! You are so close and you will totally be there before next week! I'm so excited for you and what an amazing average...10 pounds a month! That's great :)

  2. That is so awesome about hitting your lowest adult weight . . AND about the Zumba!! I love it too! I wish they would do Zumba night at Boot Camp! :) LOL. . can just see our marines doing those moves. . !

    So, I can't wait to try Zumba.. I keep saying I'm going to do it, but I am trying it tonight.. I hope I don't see the Grim Reaper too!!!

  6. I wish I could do something like ZUMBA, but I have ZERO hand, eye, foot coordination. When it coomes to dave moves, I just can't follow routines very well. It it were dancing in a club, I'd be golden, but a routine, heck no!

I am sooo jealous cause we don't have a jingly skirt :( Girl you are doing so great with being good, I am so impressed! 1 year and 120 lbs sounds like an amazing feet but honestly we would expect no less from such an amazing person. xox Jennifer

  8. Congrats on the 118!! I love portioning my meals ahead of time. It just makes it easier to keep myself honest.

    One question: Do you automatically think of yourself as 209 or do you tend to think of yourself at number from prior months. For example, when someone (like a dr) asks what I weigh or I see it on a form I almost say my weight from a couple months ago. It is almost a surprise when I remember I am not that anymore.

  10. Wow!!! Amy, you've lost a small adult! What an incredible accomplishment :) You continue to inspire me and I'm so very happy for you!

    Zumba sounds similar to Jazzercise. Have you ever done that? I'm a dance lover and Jazzercise fanatic (at least when I'm in better shape) so I'm thinking I'd love Zumba. I'm going to have to find a class in my neck of the woods. Keep it up, Girly!

  21. Your weight loss is such an inspiration. I was worried when the doc told me I may not have the kind of success I wanted with the band because of my starting weight. To see where you started and where you are now is just simply inspiring and it shows me (and I am sure others too) that it is possible to do more than the statistics say is possible. I hope that you enjoy every minute of 209.5 - it is a great accomplishment.

    CONGRATS on the 209! That's awesome!! WOW on the 118 down...that's incredible, amazing, fabulous, inspiring...and everything else you can think of that is positive (I am REALLY bad at words sometimes..lol).

    You will meet your goal by your one year...I can feel it! How awesome!

    I am so impressed with you in so many ways. Girl, you have taken this band and just worked with it! 118 pounds down in a year is a spectacular loss - and hard earned. You deserve every bit of congratulations and admiration (No 1 fan here??) I am seriously in awe of you. Love that you got up there at Zumba too.. I couldn't even finish my piddly dvd so you must be super fit! Big huge mwah .. clever girl!!!
