A little much...The Story of My Life

Okay, so in hindsight, yesterdays video rant might have been a little dramatic. It happens ya know. But I just got caught up in the moment, and I was standing in my bathroom talking to myself in the mirror pretending the mirror was a "hater" and then I decided..."Hey, I will video tape this"!

I am not really a fighter either. And I don't like conflict. But Angie told me that lapband needs a face. And then I realized it already has one! The face of lapband is you and me. It is young and it is old. It is a lawyer, a student, a mother, a daughter, a father. The face of lapband is rich and poor, single, married, American, Australian. It is the loud fat girl and the quiet wallflower. It is each and every one of us that took a gamble on WLS. And while I fully understand that it is NOT a choice for everyone, I do not understand bashing the choice for others. And the fat bashing comments based on ignorance and stupidity make me sad.

We have such a positive community on here, and I surround myself (for the most part) with people in my life that support and nuture my choices...so the last thing I want it to bring negativity to our blogland. I hope I didn't do that.

Happy Wednesday bloggers, readers, and friends!

  2. You ARE the face... and so are we, and we all have good feelings about it that deserve to be heard as the other side of the story. Keep telling yours Amy, keep telling it!

  3. you shouldn't feel bad about what you said or the emotion you expressed. you NEEDED to say it. what people don't understand is that every morbidly obese person who chooses wls has done something most people can not do in ANY aspect of their life -- that they have failed. admitting failure is giving up a form of control and those against it are against it for that reason alone.

    keep on keepin on!

  4. I agree with Shrinking Mommy. You needed to say it, & in you saying it, made all of us feel better. We all have our own reasons for doing WLS, & all of our reasons are good. Keep on telling our side of the story!

  5. Agree!

About your tightness, do you think maybe you started to retain some water from your naughty eating? I was told that just like when your rings on your fingers can get tighter or looser, so can your band. Just a thought.

  6. Just watched your vlog.. Soo good. I love how you say it how it is, and to hell with all the WLS haters.. I didnt think your vlog was agressive or negative.. and anyone that thought it was, is obviously not a person with WLS and shouldnt really b follwing your blog anyway..

  7. No negativity at all - in fact I was so in agreement (and on the side of the lapband) I got MOTH to listen to your vlog from yesterday. He thinks you're uber cute and 'passionate' with a reason about the cause. We must never dampen things we are passionate about otherwise nothing would ever get said or heard. He thinks you rock, as do I xxx

  10. I liked your rant. And I agreed. The writer was so busy trying to stay up on her high horse that she didn't bother to take the time to look into the facts about lapband and the benefits- or just how realistic it actually is.

    Pfffffft to her.

    Cheers to Amy!!!

  11. Amy, I have been reading your blog for a while. I am scheduled for my Lap Band surgery on Friday, Dec. 11. Reading your posts has made me even more excited about this decision. Thank you for your honesty, the good and the bad. I know that I can do this and become a Sexy Minx! --Mandy in Montana
